Has the prevalence of cocaine use in Australia changed over time by gender?

In 2001, lifetime use of cocaine was reported by 5% of men and 4% of women, while past year use was reported by 2% and 1%, respectively. By contrast, in 2019 rates of lifetime use were 13% for men and 9% for women, while past year use was reported by 6% of men and 3% of women.

In 2001, 5% of Australian males had used cocaine in their lifetime compared to 6% in 2004, 7% in 2007, 9% in 2010, 10% in 2013, 10% in 2016, and 13% in 2019.

In 2001, 4% of Australian females had used cocaine in their lifetime compared to 4% in 2004, 5% in 2007, 6% in 2010, 7% in 2013, 8% in 2016, and 9% in 2019.

In 2001, 2% of Australian males had used cocaine in the past 12 months compared to 1% in 2004, 2% in 2007, 3% in 2010, 3% in 2013, 3% in 2016, and 6% in 2019.

In 2001, 1% of Australian females had used cocaine in the past 12 months compared to 0.8% in 2004, 1% in 2007, 2% in 2010, 1% in 2013, 2% in 2016, and 3% in 2019.
